The Register of Overseas Entities
January 15, 2023
James Heathcote

The Register of Overseas Entities (‘ROE’), introduced by the Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022, requires non-UK entities that own UK land or property to register with Companies House by the end of this month. Failure to do so may be a criminal offence, as well as leading to possible fines.

The legislation is very complex (and will no doubt change over the coming months), but we have been assisting private clients and trustees with their filing obligations, including the verification and registration process. Please get in touch with one of the team if you or your clients require assistance with this, or you would like to understand your obligations under the ROE.
